Today (2.4.11)

Focus of study— Anatomy II

Technique— Cram study. Procrastination— delaying a task. A lot of people think procrastination is bad… but is it really all that terrible? There’s a part of me that loves the thrill of doing things the last minute. So I had an Anatomy test today about muscle cells and their contraction. Two snow days to study and did I? Of course… not! Instead I decided to study last night really quick and I became familiar with these concepts and terms easier then I thought I would. Does the idea of having to know things with only a short amount of time to do so help me? I think it does work, maybe not for everyone but defiantly for me.

Will I use again— We’ll see! Procrastinating is something I end up doing without planning. I do think it’s helpful for me because my learning isn’t forced, I’m doing it on my time! Procrastination does tend to cause stress though but until I’m near insanity, I will continue to procrastinate.

In other news— One more week till all of my concentration is on school. (Cheer season is over for the most part) Until then, I’m leaving my blog. I feel like doing something new, something challenging and fun. We’ll see :)

yeah…

That’s my life right now. So sorry blog for leaving you lonely for a while there. Right now, I’m studying for my ever-so-hard AP calc test I have on Friday. So let’s keep the innovative spirits up shall we? Learning/discovering everything on our own and with our own resources is what it’s about right?

So with that said, let’s figure something out. How can I learn things better? What things can I do that will suit me to figure school out?

ONE MORE SEMESTER! I know I can do it. But let’s finish this with everything I’ve got. What’s next for me you ask? Well college of course! TCU to be specific. Yes… that means I will be a horned frog aka pokemon-looking things. What’s in college? STUDYING!! Cheer, hopefully. MORE STUDYING. Social life. AND STUDYING. So I’m taking these next five months to learn how I can study and LEARN the best way possible.

So scientific me over here is going to run some experiments to see what works and what doesn’t. And guess where I’ll broadcast my findings. HERE of course.

Don’t worry Global Connections. You’re still a part of the game. Planning on signing up for this homeless awareness thingy? More info will be in stat. ALSO I LOVELOVELOVE kids right? So I’ve been looking into boys and girls club! Might be a cool thing to get involved with. Who knows.

Today (1.19.10)

Focus of study— AP Calculus

Technique— Khanacadamy.org    COOLEST thing ever. So you browse through all of these calc lessons and there’s a video that teaches you the concepts!! I watched the Mean Value Theorem one today. Makes so much sense now!

Will I use again— Defiantly! I’m already planning on finding a video on Riemann sums and Intervals.

Change of heart… change the world

So Swahili is REALLY cool.

Switching over to Global Connections though. Swahili will still be part of my class. But why not shove it all together? Right? Here goes nothin!!!!

Do we need Africa more than Africa needs us?

Dignity. Health. Joy. Love. Hope.

The five things we wanted to spread while we were in Africa. We wanted the people there to experience all of the above but we were unaware and oblivious that we were experiencing all of it as well.

Do they live in poverty? Politically, yes. They suffer from not having nearly as much things as we have. When I spent two weeks in Africa, the people there had more joy and more love than I have ever witnessed anyone have. I envied them.

Are we in poverty? We’re missing something. It may not be toys or cars or giant houses. But it’s something. Needs? Relationships? Something.

BEST IDEA EVER!!!

So I have a very smart best friend named, Erin Esme “Elizabeth” Kamrath-Mihalchick. She came up with THE BEST IDEA EVER!!!

Basically her and I are going to learn a couple of AWESOME Swahili songs, go to popular places (king soopers, 16th street mall, etc.) to sing them, and collect money for our talents!!

That’s not even the best part. We are going to give the earnings to our WISHING WELL $$$ collection. We want to raise enough money for a well in Eastern Uganda. We know we can’t get $11,000 from just this. But this is only the beginning ;)
